ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Physics processing unit

A Physics Processing Unit (PPU) is like a super-smart calculator that helps to make games look and feel more realistic. It is usually found inside a game console or computer, and it helps the game engine to calculate how the environment should respond when something happens in the game, such as when an object is dropped, or an explosion takes place. By using the PPU, the game can make realistic looking effects and it can also help to make the game play faster, because it can figure out the physics calculations required much more quickly than a human can.
