Pink noise

Sound can come in different colors just like light. Pink noise is a kind of sound that has a special color, just like how pink is a special color of light.

Pink noise sounds like a steady rush of air or water. It has a mix of different frequencies - this means that there are different high pitches and low pitches mixed together. But unlike other kinds of noise, the volume or loudness of each frequency is not equal. The lower pitched sounds are louder than the higher pitched sounds.

This is why it's called "pink" noise, because if you were to plot the volume of different frequencies on a graph, the shape it takes looks like the shape of the color pink on a spectrum.

People like listening to pink noise because it can be relaxing and soothing. They use it for falling asleep or to help them concentrate when they're working. It's also used in sound distribution systems for concerts, where sound is evenly spread across a space instead of being focused in one area.
