Plastics 2020 Challenge
Okay kiddo, today we are going to talk about something called the "plastics 2020 challenge". Do you know what plastics are? They are things like water bottles, straws, and toys that are made out of a material that doesn't easily break like glass or paper.
Now, the plastics 2020 challenge is a plan to reduce the amount of plastic waste that ends up in the environment by the year 2020. That's only a few years away! Right now, there is too much plastic being thrown away and not enough being recycled, and that is not good for the Earth.
The plastics 2020 challenge has lots of things in it to help reduce plastic waste. Some of the things people are doing include using less plastic, like bringing reusable shopping bags instead of using plastic ones, and recycling more plastic so it can be made into new things instead of being thrown away.
Companies that make plastic things are also making changes to help with this challenge. They are making their products out of more environmentally-friendly materials, like plant-based plastics that can break down more easily, and they are also designing their products so that they can be reused or recycled more easily.
