Playback singer

Okay kiddo, do you know what a singer is? A singer is someone who sings songs, like your favorite singer you listen to on the radio.

Now, a playback singer is kind of like a singer too, but instead of singing live in front of people, they sing into a microphone and their singing gets recorded into a machine. Then, when you watch a movie or a TV show, the playback singer's voice gets played back to match the video, so it looks like the actors in the movie or TV show are singing the song, even though they aren't really singing it themselves.

So, when you hear a song in a movie or on TV where the actors are singing, they are actually lip-syncing to the playback singer's voice. The playback singer's job is to make sure they sing the song really well so it sounds good when it gets played back while the actors are pretending to sing it.
