Poe's Law

Poe's Law says that it's often hard to tell jokes and serious beliefs apart on the internet because both can sound so extreme and different people can have such different views. A way to explain this is like this: Imagine someone making a joke about aliens that sounds so ridiculous and unbelievable that you don't know if the person is actually crazy or just joking. That's what Poe's Law is—it's hard to know the difference between a joke and something serious because they can look so similar.
