Polarizer

Have you ever tried putting on sunglasses and noticed how the world around you seems darker? This is because sunglasses have a special filter called a polarizer that only allows specific light waves to pass through it.

Light waves are like little squiggly lines that move through the air, and some of these lines are called polarized light waves. These waves move in a specific direction, either up and down or left and right.

When light from the sun hits surfaces like water, snow or glass, it often becomes polarized, meaning the light waves all move in the same direction. This can cause glare or unwanted reflections that can be annoying and make it hard to see.

A polarizer filter is like a tiny fence that only allows light waves that are moving in one direction to pass through, while blocking all the other waves. So when you wear sunglasses with a polarizer filter, you can see clearly without being distracted by unwanted glare and reflections.

Polarizers are also used in photography to reduce or eliminate reflections on shiny surfaces and bring out richer colors in nature photography.

So, in summary, a polarizer is like a special filter that only lets some light through to help you see better without annoying glare, reflections, or unwanted colors.
