Prayer flag

A prayer flag is like a special type of flag with colorful rectangular cloth pieces tied to a string. People who follow different religions, like Buddhism or Hinduism, use it to offer a prayer to the universe. These rectangular pieces are made of cotton or silk and printed with different prayers, mantras, and symbols.

The colors of the flag are also significant. These flags come in five different colors, each representing five elements of nature. Blue represents the sky, white represents air, red symbolizes fire, green signifies water, and yellow symbolizes earth.

Once the flags are printed, they are then hung in high places like tall mountains or significant temples or bridges. These places are chosen as they believe that the wind will blow the flags, and with the wind, the prayers and mantras will also reach the heavens, and the universe will hear them.

It is common for people to hang these flags for special occasions like marriage, birth, or even death. When these flags wear out due to weather or other circumstances, they are replaced with new ones as they believe this continuously offers prayers for peace and well-being to people, animals, and their surroundings.
