Prebendalism

Okay kiddo, so imagine you have a group of friends. One of your friends is the leader, and this friend has a lot of power and control over the group. This friend decides who gets to sit where, who gets to play what game, and who gets to have the most snacks.

Now imagine this same situation but with adults running a country. That's what prebendalism is. It's a way of running a government or society where the leader, or "big man," has a lot of power and control over who gets what resources, jobs, and opportunities.

This "big man" is usually someone who has a lot of money, status, or connections, and they use their power to reward their friends and supporters with things like political appointments, contracts, and government resources.

The problem with prebendalism is that it often leads to corruption, inequality, and unfairness. People who are not friends with the "big man" may not get the same opportunities, even if they are more qualified or deserving. And the "big man" may use their power to enrich themselves at the expense of the rest of society.

So, in short, prebendalism is a way of running a society where the "big man" has a lot of power and uses it to reward friends and supporters, but it can lead to corruption and inequality.
