Presidential election

When we want someone to lead our country, like a captain for a ship, we have an election. People who are old enough to vote can choose who they want to be the captain. This is called the presidential election.

For this, different people want to be the captain and they share their ideas and plans with everyone. They go to different places and talk about what they will do if they become the captain. This is called a campaign.

When the day of the election comes, people go to a special place called a polling station. They look at a list of candidates who want to be the captain and they choose the one they like the most. They do this by writing the name of the person on a paper or pressing a button on a computer.

When all the people have voted, the votes are counted. The person with the most votes becomes the captain of the ship, which in this case is the president of the country.

The president will then lead the country for a certain amount of time, usually four years. After this time is up, there will be another presidential election and people can choose a new captain or keep the current one for another term.
