Prestige oil spill

Okay, kiddo, let’s talk about something called the Prestige oil spill. It happened way back in 2002, but it was a really big deal. You know how when you spill your juice or your milk, it makes a mess and is hard to clean up? Well, imagine that, but with millions of gallons of oil!

See, the Prestige was a big ship that was carrying oil across the ocean. But one day, it got really old and started to break apart in the middle of the sea. And when it broke apart, all the oil inside spilled out and started to spread everywhere.

This was bad for a lot of reasons. First, the oil made the water dirty and sick for all the fish and animals that live in the ocean. They had trouble breathing and finding food, and some of them even died. Second, the oil started to wash up on the beaches, making them all sticky and stinky. That meant no more swimming or playing in the sand for a lot of people who lived nearby.

Now, cleaning up an oil spill is really hard. It takes a lot of people and a lot of special machines to suck up all the oil and make sure the ocean and the beaches are nice and clean again. It also takes a lot of time, sometimes years!

So, the Prestige oil spill was really, really bad. It hurt the environment and made life harder for a lot of people and animals. It’s really important to take care of our earth and make sure things like this don’t happen again, even when accidents happen.
