ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Process group

When you have a bunch of friends who all want to play together, you usually become a group. In the same way, when you have a bunch of computer programs that are working together, they become a process group.

Just like how each friend in the group has their own name and personality, each program in the process group has its own name and job to do. But just like how your group of friends can work together to do things like play a game or build a sandcastle, the programs in the process group can work together to accomplish a task.

When the programs are working together in a process group, they can communicate with each other and share resources. This means that they can all access the same information and use the same computer memory. They can also work together to complete tasks faster and more efficiently than they could on their own.

So basically, a process group is like a group of friends who are working together to get something done, and the computer programs in the group are like the different friends who are all contributing in different ways.
