ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Product naming convention

Hey there little one! Today we're going to talk about how companies choose names for their products.

Imagine you have a toy box full of different toys - a truck, a doll, a teddy bear, and some building blocks. Each of these toys has a different name so you know which one you want to play with.

Companies do the same thing when they create products. They want people to be able to easily recognize and remember what their product is called.

There are a few different ways that companies can come up with names for their products. Some use descriptive names that tell you exactly what the product does or what it's made of. For example, if a company makes a pencil sharpener that's shaped like a monster, they might call it the "Monster Sharpener."

Other companies might use made-up names that don't have anything to do with what the product actually does, but they sound catchy or memorable. For example, if a company makes a new type of candy, they might call it "Fizzwiz," even though it doesn't really describe the candy itself.

Some companies might also use names that are based on real words, but with a twist. They might use a misspelled word or combine two words together. For example, a company that makes sunglasses might call them "Sunstoppers."

Overall, the goal is to come up with a name that will catch people's attention and make them want to buy the product. Just like how you pick which toy you want to play with based on its name, people might choose which product to buy based on its name too!
