Programmable logic controller

A programmable logic controller (PLC) is like a computer that you can use to control machines and processes. It has a special set of instructions that tell it what to do when certain things happen. For example, if you have a door that needs to open when someone pushes a button, the PLC would tell the door to open when it senses the button has been pushed. It can also be used to turn machines on and off or to make sure the temperature in a room is just right. Basically, PLCs are helpful because they can do a lot of complicated looping jobs that would be too hard for people to do by hand.
