ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Propagule

Okay kiddo, so imagine you have a little plant growing in your garden. This plant can make seeds that can grow new plants, right? Well, a propagule is kind of like a seed, but it's not always a seed. A propagule is any part of a plant that can grow a new plant on its own.

For example, some plants can make little baby plants right off of their leaves! These little plant babies are called propagules. Some types of plants also have special structures that can fall off and grow into a new plant, like bulbs or tubers. These structures are also called propagules.

So basically, a propagule is any part of a plant that can grow into a new plant without needing to be planted like a seed. It's kind of like the plant's way of making clones of itself!
