Proton decay

Proton decay is something that scientists think might happen but we can't say for sure. Proton decay is a process where the protons that make up atoms could break apart into smaller pieces. If this happens it could cause the whole atom to fall apart. That would cause a lot of destruction, but we don't know for sure if it will ever happen.
