Pseudogene (database)

Okay kiddo, so a pseudogene is like a copy of a gene that doesn't really work. Think of it like trying to make a copy of a drawing, but the copy comes out blurry and you can't really tell what the picture is supposed to be.

Scientists have made a special database, kind of like a big book, where they write down all the different pseudogenes they find. They study these pseudogenes to learn more about how genes work and how they can change over time.

It's like having a puzzle with missing pieces - scientists can use pseudogenes to try and figure out what those missing pieces might have looked like.

So, even though these pseudogenes don't work like they're supposed to, they can still help us learn new things!
