Public defender

Okay kiddo, let me explain to you what a public defender is. Sometimes people get in trouble with the law and they have to go to court. Now, everyone who goes to court to face criminal charges has the right to a lawyer to help them defend their case. But not everyone can afford to hire their own lawyer. That's where public defenders come in.

A public defender is a lawyer who works for the government. Their job is to help people who can't afford their own lawyer. They are hired by the government to represent people who are accused of a crime, but don't have the resources to hire their own lawyer.

If someone can't afford their own lawyer and they go to court, the judge will assign them a public defender. This person will be responsible for helping them defend against the criminal charges brought against them.

Public defenders are trained lawyers who have lots of experience defending people in court. They are passionate about making sure everyone has access to legal representation, no matter how much money they have.

So, in short, public defenders are lawyers who work for the government and help people who can't afford to hire their own lawyer defend against criminal charges.
