Punya (Hinduism)

Punya is a Hindu belief that refers to the good you do in life. It is like a bank balance for the good things that you have done. For example, if you do something nice for someone or help out in your community, this adds something to your Punya balance. Punya will help you in the afterlife and can even be something that will stay with you throughout your next life. Doing good things and improving your Punya balance is seen as an important part of Hindu belief.
