ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Pur (placename element)

Okay kiddo, have you ever heard of the word "pur" before? It's a kind of special name that some places have at the end of their name. It might sound a little bit funny, but it actually has a special meaning.

You see, "pur" stands for a type of place - a town or a village that has grown a lot over time. These places started out small, but as more and more people moved in and businesses were built, they grew bigger and busier. So to help people know that the place is big and important, they add "pur" to the end of its name.

For example, have you ever heard of a place called "Kanpur" in India? Well, that's a "pur" place! It used to be a small village, but now it's a big city with lots of people and lots of things to do.

So now you know that "pur" is just a way to show that a place has grown a lot over time. Pretty cool, huh?
