ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Pyramidal peak

Imagine you are playing with sand on the beach and you take a handful of sand and make a pile. You notice that the pile looks like a triangle with three sides, like the roof of a house. This is called a pyramidal peak.

Now, imagine this pile of sand is a really big mountain. Pyramidal peaks form when glaciers (like big blocks of ice) move over the mountain and carve away the sides, leaving a sharp, pointy peak in the middle. Think of it like using a big spoon to scoop the ice cream out of the middle of a sundae.

These peaks are often found in places with lots of snow and ice, like the tallest mountains in the world, and they can be breathtakingly beautiful. But they can also be dangerous to climb because of their steep sides and exposed ridges. So, it's important to be very careful when exploring these natural wonders.
