Quantitative structure–activity relationship (QSAR) is like a matching game. When scientists want to make a new medicine, they first try to match different parts of the medicine to things that already work. QSAR is a way to do this match. In QSAR, scientists will look at the structures of the molecules and figure out what makes them work. They compare the structure of different molecules with the same kind of medicine and see which structures make it work best. Then scientists can use this information to design medicines that will have the same kinds of structures and will be more likely to work.
