ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Queen mother

Okay kiddo, so you know how a queen is a really important lady who is in charge of a whole country? Sometimes, if the queen has a son who becomes king, then that means the queen becomes a "queen mother".

But wait, what does that mean? Well, think of it like this: The queen mother is still very important, but she's not in charge of the whole country anymore. Instead, she helps her son, the king, and gives him advice and support.

It's kind of like when your mom helps you with your homework. She's not doing the work for you, but she's there to give you guidance and help you when you need it. That's what a queen mother does for her son, the king.

And even though she's not in charge of the whole country anymore, people still respect and love her because she is the mother of the king. So she gets to do special things and go to fancy events, and lots of people will come out to see her because she's so important.

Does that make sense, little buddy?
