Quiggly hole

A quiggly hole is essentially an underground house that some indigenous peoples, like the Coast Salish of the Pacific Northwest, used to live in. It's kind of like a big round pit in the ground, with a hallway leading to a small room underground that then opens up into a bigger space for the family to live in.

Think of it like a secret hideout, but instead of being in a tree or a fort made of blankets, it's built right into the Earth! The walls and roof of the quiggly hole were made of wooden poles and woven mats, and the floor was often lined with cedar bark.
