ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Railway modelling

Railway modelling is playing with miniature train sets that look like real trains, but are smaller in size. Imagine having a small version of a train, with tiny tracks and scenery, and you can control it with a remote.

First, you need to choose the scale - this means how big or small the train set will be. The most popular scale is HO, which is about 1/87th of the real size train.

Next, you need a train engine, which is the main part of the train set. The engine is the one that will pull the cars that make up the train. You can create a whole train by adding different cars like passenger, cargo, or even a caboose.

To create the track layout, you will need to attach the rail tracks to a board and create a design for the train to follow. To complete the look, you can also add scenery like buildings, people, trees, mountains, and water too.

Once the train setup is ready, you can control the train's speed and movements with a remote control. You can make it stop, start, change direction, and even change the speed.

Overall, railway modelling is a fun way to enjoy trains and create your own little world with miniature objects. It is a hobby loved by many people who enjoy building and controlling trains.
