Railway turntable

A railway turntable is like a circular platform that trains drive on. The platform can spin around like a merry-go-round! When a train needs to change direction, it drives onto the turntable and the turntable spins around until the train is facing the right way.

It's kind of like if you were playing with your toy cars and you needed one to go in a different direction. You would pick it up and turn it around with your hands.

Railway turntables are super helpful because they allow trains to switch tracks without having to back up and turn around. It makes it much faster and easier for trains to get where they need to go!
