Raptio

Raptio is a Latin word that refers to the taking of women by force. It was commonly practiced in different parts of the world and was often used as a way of gaining more wives or slaves. Raptio usually meant that women were taken away against their will, sometimes by a group of men and sometimes by a single man. In some cases, the women would later be returned to their families, but in other cases, they would be kept by the person who took them.
