ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Real tree

A real tree is a plant that grows from a seed, just like how you grow from a baby. It has a stem, branches and leaves that make it look like a big umbrella. The tree needs sunshine, air, water, and nutrients from the soil to grow big and strong just like how you need food, water, and a good sleep to grow healthy.

During Christmas time, some families bring a real tree into their homes and decorate it with lights, ornaments and a star on top. The tree becomes a special part of the holiday season. When the season is over, the tree is removed and usually recycled or reused.

It is important to take care of real trees because they are living things that provide air for us to breathe and homes for animals. When we cut down a tree, we have to plant new trees to replace them to keep our environment healthy for us and the planet.
