Realistic conflict theory is a way of understanding why people might argue with each other, using the idea that we all want different things and we sometimes compete with each other to get what we want. It suggests that when two people wants the same thing, like a toy, they might argue over who will get it. This means that if two people have different interests (like if one person wants to watch a cartoon and the other person wants to play outside) then it is likely that they might argue because they both want different things. Realistic conflict theory also suggests that it's important to try to understand why different people have different interests, so we can work together to try and find a way to satisfy everyone.
