Recombinase-mediated cassette exchange, or RMCE, is a way to swap genes between different parts of DNA in living cells. To do this, scientists use special proteins called recombinases. These recombinases cut out a part of the DNA and move it to a different place. This allows scientists to take out old parts of the DNA and swap them out for different parts. This could be used to make new medicines, modify crops, and more.
