Reflex syncope is when a person faints or passes out because their body overreacts to certain things, like being scared or standing up too quickly.
When you stand up, your body has to work harder to keep blood flowing to your brain. But sometimes, your body "overcompensates" and sends too much blood to your brain, causing your blood pressure to drop suddenly. This can make you feel dizzy or lightheaded, and if it gets bad enough, you might faint.
Other things that trigger reflex syncope can include seeing blood, feeling extreme emotions, or even coughing or sneezing really hard.
If you have reflex syncope, your doctor might recommend things like drinking more water, eating more salt, or taking medicine to help regulate your blood pressure. But don't worry, it's usually not a serious condition and most people can manage it with a few easy changes!
