Religious Trauma Syndrome (RTS) is a condition that some people experience when they have had a negative experience with religion. It can happen if someone was in a religion they did not want to be in, if they felt judged or scared because of their religious beliefs, or if they experienced something traumatic related to religion. RTS can make someone feel anxious, depressed, and overwhelmed. It can also make a person feel like they are not ok with their religious beliefs. Some people get help by talking to a therapist or joining a support group.
