Renard series

Okay kiddo, today we are going to learn about something called "renard series." Have you ever gone to a store with your grown-up to buy something and noticed that the things you wanted to buy seemed to have different sizes but were still kind of similar? Maybe you saw some toys that were small, some that were medium, and some that were large, but they all kind of looked like they went together? That's kind of what the renard series is like!

In the math world, people use something called the renard series to help them make things that are different sizes but still kind of similar. It helps them choose sizes for things like wires, screws, and pipes that are all kind of related to each other. So if you need to find something that will fit into a certain space, the renard series can help you choose the right size.

The renard series is named after a man named Renard who came up with the idea a long time ago. He said that there are certain ratios that make things look like they belong together, even if they are different sizes. These ratios are 1.5, 2, and 2.5. That means that if you have a small toy that is one size, the next size up might be 1.5 times bigger, the one after that might be 2 times bigger, and the one after that might be 2.5 times bigger.

So the renard series helps people choose sizes for things that are related to each other, and it does it in a way that makes those things look like they belong together. It's a pretty cool math trick!
