ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Residential college

A residential college is like a big school where you live and learn at the same place. Instead of going to class and then going back home like you do in a regular school, you live in the same building as your classrooms, teachers, and classmates!

Imagine your house, but with more people living in it and everyone is going to school together. That's what a residential college is like, but it's not just for very young kids. Most residential colleges are for older students, like those in high school or college.

You live in a dormitory (dorm for short) with other students. It's like a big room with tiny rooms in it for each person. You share things like the bathroom and kitchen with everyone, but you also have your own private space. Sometimes, you get a roommate to share the space with you!

Residential colleges have lots of activities for you to do when you're not in class, like sports, clubs, and events. They also have people called "residential assistants" who make sure you're safe and happy while you're living there.

Overall, it's a really cool way to learn and make new friends while having a unique living experience.
