ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Resource intensity

Resource intensity is when we use a lot of things to make just one item or do a job. Think of it like baking a cake. If we use a lot of ingredients like sugar, flour, eggs, and butter, it would be a high resource intensity cake.

Now let's think about making something like a car. A lot of materials like metal, plastic, glass, and rubber go into making a car, and it takes a lot of energy to build one. This means making a car is a high resource intensity task.

This can be a problem because when we use too many resources to make one thing, it can put a strain on the environment. We only have so many resources to use, and when we use too much of them, we can run out. This is why it's important to be aware of resource intensity and try to use fewer resources when we can.
