ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Industrial ecology

Industrial ecology is a way of looking at the world that tries to make sure that all the things we make and do don't have a negative effect on the environment. It's all about making sure that when we use natural resources like wood, oil, or water, we don't use them up so much that we run out. When people use industrial ecology, they look at all the things people make, from cars to computers, and all the things people do, like burning coal for electricity or catching fish for food. Then, they try to think of ways to use our resources in a way that will help make sure that the planet is healthy for our grandkids and all their grandkids.
