Environmental racism is when people who live in communities of color (like Black, Indigenous, or people with Latino backgrounds) are more likely to face bad things in their environment like air pollution, improper waste disposal, and not having access to fresh water. People in these communities know that the environment around them is impacted negatively, which makes them more likely to get sick or develop health problems. Environmental racism is wrong and it’s important to make sure everyone — regardless of the color of their skin — has a healthy and safe environment.
