Retinoblastoma

Retinoblastoma is a type of cancer that happens in the eye. Inside your eye, there is something called the retina, which is like a camera that takes pictures of what you see. Sometimes, something goes wrong with the cells in the retina and they start growing too much, even when they're not supposed to.

This is called a tumor, and if it grows big enough, it could be dangerous. In retinoblastoma, these extra cells grow in your retina and can stop it from working the way it should. This can make it hard to see things, or you might see things differently than you're supposed to.

Doctors can often see if there's something wrong with your retina using special tools that look into your eye. They might also send you to have special pictures taken of your eye, called an MRI or CT scan. These pictures can help the doctors see how big the tumor is and if it's spreading to other parts of your body.

If doctors find out that you have retinoblastoma, they might need to operate to remove the tumor. They might also give you special medicine that can help kill the extra cells in your eye. Sometimes, doctors might need to use both surgery and medicine to get rid of the cancer.

If you have retinoblastoma, it might be scary and you might need to go to the hospital a lot. But doctors and nurses are always there to help you and make sure you're feeling okay. They will also work hard to help you see better again so you can keep doing all the things you love to do.
