Rice wine

Rice wine is like a special juice made from rice. When you make rice, you usually add water to cook it, right? Well, when you make rice wine, you add special things called yeast and enzymes to the water and rice mixture. These things help turn the rice starches into sugar and then into alcohol (which is what makes you feel funny if you drink too much).

After a few days or weeks, depending on the recipe, the yeast and enzymes will have worked their magic and turned the rice mixture into a tasty alcoholic drink. Some people drink rice wine straight up, while others use it in cooking to make yummy dishes like stir-fries.

It's important to remember that rice wine should only be enjoyed by grown-ups because it can make you feel a little bit crazy if you drink too much. And always drink responsibly!
