Richard Upjohn
Okay kiddo, so Richard Upjohn was a very important man who lived a long time ago. Do you know what an architect is? It's like someone who draws and designs buildings. And that's exactly what Mr. Upjohn did! He helped design and build all kinds of important buildings, like churches and libraries, and even some big fancy houses!
One of the things that made Mr. Upjohn famous was something called the Gothic Revival style. This means that he liked designing buildings that looked like they came from a very long time ago, like from the Middle Ages. These buildings had tall pointed arches and lots of really pretty decorations.
Mr. Upjohn was also really good at making sure the buildings he designed were strong and safe. He knew just what materials to use so the buildings wouldn't fall down, and he made sure they had enough windows and doors for people to get in and out.
So even though Mr. Upjohn lived a very long time ago, we can still see the buildings he helped design and admire all the hard work and creativity he put into them!
