Riley slice is when we take a big object, like a ball, and cut it in half right down the middle. Then, we take just one of those halves and cut it again, but this time we cut it across the middle so we have two slices. One slice will have a curve on top and the other will be flat. The curved slice is called the Riley slice. It's like when you cut a cake and take a slice out of it, except we're doing it with a ball instead. The Riley slice is named after a mathematician named Constance Reid Riley, who figured out some cool things you can do with it in math.
