Roosevelt Corollary

Okay kiddo, imagine you have a big brother who loves to protect you. One day, he tells you that he will watch out for you and your friends at school to make sure no one bullies you. This is kind of like what the Roosevelt Corollary is.

Back in the early 1900s, the United States was becoming a really powerful country, and President Theodore Roosevelt wanted to make sure that other countries in the Americas (like Central and South America) didn't get picked on by other countries. So, he came up with the Roosevelt Corollary, which basically said that the United States would step in and protect countries in the Americas if they were being threatened or bullied by other countries.

Think about it like your big brother saying he will protect your entire class at school if they ever get into a fight with another class. The Roosevelt Corollary helped the United States become an even bigger world power and helped keep other countries in the Americas safe.
