Routine flaring

Have you ever seen a bonfire or lit a candle? When you light them, they make a flame that gives off heat and light. Well, when oil is taken out of the ground, it also gives off gas that is like a flame.

But this gas can't just be left alone because it could be dangerous! That's where routine flaring comes into play. When there's extra gas that can't be used, it's burned off in a controlled way. This is kind of like blowing out a candle so it doesn't burn down the house.

Doing routine flaring makes sure that the gas is burned safely, without causing harm to people or the environment. That way, the natural gas can be used in an efficient and controlled way, keeping everyone safe and happy.
