Rufus (biblical figure)

Okay kiddo, have you ever heard of a man named Rufus from the Bible? No? Well, Rufus was a person mentioned in the Bible. He was not a main character like Jesus, but he was still important.

Now, Rufus was not talked about a whole lot, but he is mentioned a few times in the New Testament. In the Book of Romans, it says that his mother was a woman named Simon of Cyrene.

So, who is Simon of Cyrene? Simon was a man who was made to carry the cross that Jesus was nailed on. As he was walking with the cross, he was noticed by the crowd and was mentioned in the Bible. Simon had two sons named Alexander and Rufus.

So, when Rufus is mentioned in the Bible, it is most likely that he is the son of Simon who helped carry the cross of Jesus.

This little detail about Rufus reminds us that many people in the Bible had families and friends who were also affected by the events that took place. Even though Rufus wasn't doing anything super important, he still played a role in the story of Jesus.
