Okay kiddo, so when you're playing rugby league, each player on the team has a special job to do. These are called positions!
Let's start with the basic positions: there are 13 players on the field at a time, and each one has a number from 1 to 13.
Number 1 is the fullback. This player is like the last line of defence. They hang back near the goal line and try to stop the other team from scoring.
Number 2 and 5 are the wingers. They're really fast and they stand near the sideline. When their team has the ball, they run down the field as fast as they can to try and score a try (that's like a touchdown in American football).
Number 3 and 4 are the centres. They're sort of in between the wingers and the big guys in the middle. They're quick and agile and often help the wingers make those important runs down the field.
Number 6 and 7 are the halves. These guys are like the quarterbacks in American football. They give directions to the other players, and usually are the ones to kick the ball down the field.
Number 8 and 10 are the props. They're the big guys in the middle who do a lot of the heavy lifting. They're strong and powerful and help their team push forward.
Number 9 is the hooker. They are the smallest player in the middle but they are fast and sneaky. They hook the ball back from scrums and play the ball quickly.
Number 11 and 12 are the second-rowers. They're like the props, but a bit more mobile. They help out all over the field.
Number 13 is the lock. They're like a combination of the second-rowers and the halves. They do a bit of everything!
So, each player has a special job on the rugby league field. When they work together as a team, they can score tries, win games, and have a lot of fun.
