ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Sídlisko

Sídlisko is a type of neighborhood where many people live in apartment buildings that are located close to each other. Imagine a big block toy, but instead of each block being a separate house, each block is a big building with many different homes inside.

Sídlisko is a Slovak word and it’s usually used to describe neighborhoods in Slovakia and other parts of eastern Europe. These neighborhoods were built after World War II, when many cities needed to house a lot of people who had been displaced by the war.

In sídlisko, people usually have access to lots of different things they need, like stores, restaurants, schools, and parks. But because the buildings are so close together, there isn’t a lot of space for each family to have their own garden or yard like they might have in a house in the suburbs.

Even though sídlisko might look different from where you live, people who live there are just like you and your family. They enjoy spending time with friends and family, playing outdoors, and living happy lives.
