Imagine a big family that has lots of smaller families inside of it. For example, you might have your family with your mom, dad, and siblings, and then also have your aunt, uncle, and cousins who are part of your bigger family. That bigger family is called a "superfamily" in science.
In science, there are lots of different types of animals and plants, and they are all put into different groups based on how they look and act. Some of these groups are smaller, like a family of animals that all have similar traits. But sometimes, scientists find that there are lots of families that have similar traits and are related to each other in some way. When this happens, they put all those families together into a bigger group called a superfamily.
So, just like how your family has different smaller families inside of it, the superfamily in science has lots of families inside of it that are all related to each other in some way. And just like how you and your cousin might look similar and act in similar ways because you're part of the same family, animals and plants in a superfamily often share similar traits and features because they're all part of a bigger family of organisms.
