Sacred Harp

Well, imagine a big group of people sitting in a big room or outside in nature. They all have songbooks that have a special type of music in it called Sacred Harp music. The music has really old-fashioned sounding parts called notes, and when everyone sings together it sounds really beautiful and makes you feel happy and maybe a little bit like you're in a special place. The reason it's called a "sacred" harp is because the people who sing it think it's important music that helps them feel closer to God or a higher power. Sometimes they even say the music is like a secret code that helps them understand things they can't explain with words. At the end, everyone claps and says nice things to each other, and they get ready to do it all over again next time.
