ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Sagittarii

Okay kiddo, so you know how there are different groups of stars up in the sky? Well, one of those groups is called Sagittarius. It's named after a mythical creature called a centaur, which is half-human and half-horse, and represents the zodiac sign for people born between November 23rd and December 21st.

Sagittarius is located in a part of the sky called the Milky Way, which is like a big river of stars that you can see from Earth. In fact, Sagittarius is right in the middle of the Milky Way, which makes it really easy to spot! It looks like a teapot made up of stars, with a spout, handle, and lid.

Now, the stars in Sagittarius are really special because they are some of the brightest and biggest stars in the galaxy. Some of them are so huge that if they were placed in our own solar system, they would take up the entire space between the sun and Jupiter!

Scientists are really interested in Sagittarius because they think it might contain a giant black hole at its center. Black holes are objects in space that are so massive and have such strong gravity that they pull in everything around them, including light. If there really is a black hole in Sagittarius, it would be the biggest one ever discovered!
