ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Sahih

"Sahih" is a word that means "the true" or "the authentic" in Arabic. It is used when talking about some important religious books in Islam, called Hadith.

Hadith are really old stories about what the prophet Muhammad said or did in his life. They are important because they help people understand how to be good Muslims and how to follow the teachings of Islam.

When someone says a Hadith is "sahih," it means that it is a story that we can trust and know for sure that it is true. It's like when your teacher tells you something and you know you can believe her because she's a reliable source of information.

To make sure a Hadith is "sahih", scholars study it really carefully, looking at the sources it came from and checking to make sure it hasn't been changed or made up. They want to be sure that they are sharing true and reliable teachings with others.

So when you hear someone talking about a Hadith being "sahih," you can be confident that it's a story that is important to know and that we can trust it's true.
