ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Saleh (prophet)

Saleh was a man who people believe was sent by God to teach and guide the people. He was a prophet, which means he spoke on behalf of God and his messages were very important for people to understand.

Saleh lived a long time ago in a place called Arabia, and the people at the time were mostly farmers and herders. Saleh was sent to a particular tribe called Thamud, who had been blessed with many resources, such as water and fertile land.

However, Thamud's people had become very selfish and started to believe that they were better than other people. They also started to worship idols, which are statues or objects that they believed had special powers. Saleh tried to warn them that this was wrong and that they needed to worship only one God, but they didn't want to listen.

So, God sent them a miracle to show them the error of their ways. He instructed Saleh to ask the people to give up their selfishness and idol worship, but they refused. Eventually, God turned one of their own resources against them, a huge rock known as Al-Hijr, which destroyed the tribe.

In the end, Saleh's message about the importance of following God's commands and not being selfish and greedy is still relevant today for people of all ages to learn from.
